One of the most amazing things about God’s Word is how it will show up for you exactly how you need it to. To encourage you, challenge you, remind you, convict you, teach you, etc. The Word of God is so much more than simply a collection of stories, lessons, and wisdom that we can learn from. It’s truth and life, it’s alive and active, it’s the God of this universe’s words given to us. It’s amazing!
This week, there’s been a passage that has been a constant reminder and source of encouragement that I’ve needed. It is Psalm chapter 62, verses 5 through 7.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
For me, what spoke to me the most from these verses were the truths that God is “my rock” and “my fortress”. In fact, it says he is my rock twice. Which is something I am needing to remember.
God is a secure foundation. He’s not like sand that can shift and move, He’s a rock. A rock that a fortress can be built on for a strong foundation. Which is what helps the fortress to not be shaken, providing security and solid ground.
I needed that!
I needed to be reminded of that truth!
There’s so much uncertainty in this world. So much happening that I don’t fully understand or that I’m not sure how to react to. So much that is honestly stressful and overwhelming. And so much that I am constantly seeking God for his guidance in, because I’m just not sure.
But I can find rest in him. And I can know that in the midst of all of that, he is my secure foundation. He is my rock and my fortress.
Praise God!
What about you?
What from that passage speaks to you? What is something that you need to be reminded of, or encouraged by, or even challenged with?
Allow God’s Word to be truth and life for you today.
